Job Summary:

The Area Director of Operations & Sales oversees multiple communities within the area (Georgia & North Carolina). Works closely with the Vice President of Operations and Executive Vice President of Strategic Growth on ensuring the stability and success of each community in the area, while driving occupancy. This position is responsible for bringing our mission to life: Making life better by connecting people with purpose and community. The Area Director of Operations and Sales is responsible for meeting or exceeding all budget and occupancy expectations set forth. The position sets a leadership example for others to follow and oversees day to day business operations to ensure exceptional quality and service, sustained resident satisfaction and associate engagement, operational efficiency, and strong financial results. This position successfully manages sales performance with the assigned area, monitors occupancy trends, and ensures execution for sales activity. This position requires up to 75% travel.

Essential Functions:

1. Oversees and directs the operational efforts for multiple communities within area.

2. Leads daily, weekly, monthly calls as applicable to design, review and discuss operational strategy.

3. Leads and directs the Executive Director within the area.

4. Responsible and accountable for meeting and exceeding the occupancy and revenue goals. Supports the professional development of community sales associates and provides coaching related to selling skills, pipeline management and sales execution.

5. Fosters a strong sales performance culture across the region.

6. Successfully manages sales performance within the assigned region. Monitors occupancy trends and ensures execution of sales activities by team members.

7. Responsible for the operation and management of the community in compliance with Federal, State, and local regulations and Wickshire’s mission policies, procedures, and standards. Including development and management of state and local emergency plans and plans of correction, as needed.

8. Attracts, retains, coaches, motivates, and leads a high-performance management team who collectively direct day-to-day operations of the community; holds the team accountable for meeting performance objectives.
Responsible for onboarding and terminating associates using Wickshire’s standards of practice as a guideline.

9. Communicates and models a clear, customer focused vision, based upon Wickshire’s mission, values, and Care by Wickshire.

10. Assists in interviewing, hiring and onboarding of all sales staff in the assigned region of communities.

11. Oversees completion of the marketing plan and budget for the region.

12. Assesses local markets and competitive positioning within assigned region and makes pricing and incentive/discounting recommendations.

13. Monitors sales performance expectations and gaps at the community and region level. Reviews and analyzes sales reporting/dashboards on a daily, weekly and monthly basis to ensure accuracy and to identify performance improvement opportunities. Coaches sales team members of appropriate actions in response to performance issues.

14. Serves as the Chief Sales Officer for the community; leads and directs activities of the sales team to ensure effective lead management, execution of the marketing plan and achievement of occupancy goals.

15. Coaching Sales Associate to high performance based on critical selling behaviors (Skills coaching, sales process, pipeline management, prioritization of sale focused activities, onboarding, professional development, strategic leadership).

16. Demonstrates the ability to identify and build relationships within the local area that drives businesses into the community, as well as effectively price the product, thereby maximizing top-line revenue growth and achieves appropriate market position.

17. Informs the development and monitoring of the community’s annual operating budget and business plan; leads the Director team in the execution of both, ensuring achievement of financial targets, quality standards, resident satisfaction, and associate engagement.

18. Ensures budgeted revenue is achieved or exceeded by maximizing occupancy and room rate. Meets NOI and occupancy expectations.

19. Reviews monthly financial statements, implements plans of action for deficiencies.

20. Manages key, non-labor operating costs in line with budgeted levels.

21. Serves as the Chief Sales Officer for the community; leads and directs activities of the sales team to ensure effective lead management, execution of the marketing plan and achievement of occupancy goals.

22. Coaching Sales Associate to high performance based on critical selling behaviors (Skills coaching, sales process, pipeline management, prioritization of sale focused activities, onboarding, professional development, strategic leadership).

23. Demonstrates the ability to identify and build relationships within the local area that drives businesses into the community, as well as effectively price the product, thereby maximizing top-line revenue growth and achieves appropriate market position.

24. Ensures the community has an effective external business development strategy in place, with clear accountabilities assigned, can articulate results, and adjust plan accordingly to maximize referral leads and move-ins.

25. Develops a thorough working knowledge of state regulations, policies and procedures dictated for residents; ensures compliance at all times.

26. Ensures all resident administrative files are well maintained, current and in compliance with state regulations.

27. Oversees all departments, maintaining full responsibility for efficient operations and compliance with the financial goals established in the approved Operating Budget.

28. Functional knowledge of all operating including clinical, dining, Wise & Well, Artistry of Moments (Memory
Care), Partnership with Purpose, Wickshire Wednesday and Meals on Wheels.

29. Partners with Directors to ensure that service delivery in each department is consistent with Wickshire standards and applicable regulations.

30. Reviews monthly budgets and escalates items related CapEx and approval limits.

31. Establishes and maintains effective communication strategies throughout the community, ensuring timely and effective sharing of information and a culture of openness. Maintains an open-door policy.

32. Leads and participates in the planning and execution of effective orientation for new associates and ongoing learning and development of associates through in-services and other training programs.

33. Participates in family and resident communications to ensure strong relationships and open exchange of information; holds staff accountable for proactive, positive communications with residents and their families.

34. Establishes and implements safety protocols in the community; sets a strong example and holds associates accountable for practicing a culture of safety.

35. Continuously monitors the building, grounds, and surrounding areas to ensure that the community is a safe, clean, attractive, and vibrant living environment for Wickshire residents and presents an exceptional impression for guests.

36. Stays abreast of trends and best practices throughout the senior living industry and of current events and conditions in the local market; keeps management appropriately informed.

37. Leads, participates in and attends all in-service training and education programs as scheduled.

38. Completes all mandatory compliance, HIPAA and state and federal regulatory training as required.

39. Maintains appropriate degree of confidentiality.

40. Demonstrates timely and effective communication with regional support team.

Education and Experience:

1. Bachelor’s degree in business, geriatrics, health care, hospitality or a related field and a minimum of five years’ experience in a senior living, hospitality, health care or related setting; or equivalent combination of experience and education.

2. Minimum of seven years’ leadership experience in senior living and/or a multidisciplinary team environment; operations experience in a senior living, hospitality, or residential care environment strongly preferred.

Certifications, Licenses, and other Special Requirements:

In communities with a health center, Nursing Home Administrator license strongly preferred. Maintain state licensing requirements, where applicable.
